Trust & safety
How we verify
Every venue that joins Spafindo is visited in person before it goes live. This page explains what we check, the standards we ask venues to meet, and what our badge does — and doesn't — mean.
The visit
Before a suite is listed, we walk through the door
No suite joins Spafindo on the strength of a form and a set of photos. Someone from our team visits the venue and walks the same route a guest would: the entrance, the changing space, the suite itself.
We check that the privacy is real — a suite of its own, with no shared pools or circuits, and a door that closes behind you. We look at cleanliness and the condition of the equipment, from the sauna heater to the lighting. And we compare the listing photos against the room in front of us: what the photos show must be what you get.
While Spafindo launches, the suites shown on the site are representative demo listings that illustrate this standard; the in-person verification described here is completed before any real venue goes live.
The checklist
Four checks, on every visit
These are the same four checks listed on every suite page — done in person, before the listing goes live.
Privacy of the entrance
The suite must be genuinely private: a space of its own, no shared pools or wet areas, and no other guests crossing your path during your session.
Cleanliness protocol
We look at the state of the suite on the day — surfaces, water, textiles — and at how the venue cleans and resets between one booking and the next.
Photo accuracy
Listing photos must match the room. We take our own reference photos during the visit and reject images that flatter more than they inform.
Ease of arrival
Clear directions, straightforward parking or access, and a check-in that doesn't undo the calm you came for.
Hygiene
Water safety, anchored in Spanish law
Hot-water and spa installations in Spain are regulated by Real Decreto 487/2022, the national standard for the prevention and control of legionella. In plain terms, it requires venues to keep a maintenance plan for their installations, treat their water and monitor temperatures — routine, documented upkeep of every sauna, whirlpool and shower system.
As part of listing, Spafindo asks each venue for its compliance documentation and reviews it before the suite goes live. It is the same framework that applies to hotels and public spas across Spain — we simply ask to see the paperwork, so you never have to think about it.
What we ask venues for
- A written maintenance plan for their hot-water and spa installations
- Water treatment and regular temperature controls
- Compliance documentation under Real Decreto 487/2022, reviewed at listing
- A public-liability insurance policy that is current
Insurance, verified
Public liability insurance — the Spanish seguro de responsabilidad civil — is a listing requirement, not a nice-to-have. We ask every venue for its policy and verify that it is current before the suite is published.
Reset between every booking
Because every booking reserves the whole suite, venues clean and reset it between sessions — and buffer time is built into each venue's calendar to make that possible. The room you walk into has been prepared for you, not just vacated.
Health guidance
Heat is a pleasure — take it sensibly
Sauna and steam sit well with most healthy adults, and a few situations call for caution. None of this is small print; it is the same advice any good sauna master would give you.
- Heat sessions are not advised during pregnancy.
- Certain cardiovascular conditions — including heart disease and blood-pressure disorders — do not mix well with high heat. Ask your doctor first.
- Do not combine a session with alcohol; save the cava for afterwards.
- All guests must be 18 or over.
- When in doubt, a quick word with your doctor beats guesswork.
The badge
What “Visited & verified by Spafindo” means
When a suite page carries that line, it means everything above happened before the listing went live: an in-person visit, the four checks, hygiene documentation under Real Decreto 487/2022 and a current public-liability policy.
It is deliberately not a score. We do not publish inspection dates, inspectors' names or marks out of ten, and we do not rank venues against each other. A suite either meets the standard and is listed, or it is not on Spafindo at all. If something at a venue does not match what you read here, write to info@spafindo.com and we will look again.
